Youth Filmmakers Shine in Serpent River First Nation
Youth in Serpent River First Nation stepped behind and in front of the camera during the Lights, Camera, Action! Community Film Workshop. Over three days, participants learned every stage of filmmaking, including story development, scriptwriting, camera operation, acting, sound recording, editing and post-production. Working alongside Indigenous filmmakers and media professionals, the group created and premiered an original short horror film for the community.The workshop was designed to provide hands-on experience while encouraging the next generation of Indigenous storytellers to share their voices through film. This story features filmmaker Wes Day, filmmaker Joe Owl, and youth participants who took part in the production.
