Sault Area Hospital Launches Major Parking Lot Expansion
Sault Area Hospital is launching a major expansion of its south parking lot, triggering a months-long closure of a key section of Ring Road beginning June 1st.
The closure will remain in effect throughout active construction as crews clear land, remove trees and brush, and prepare the site for a full rebuild of the south lot.
Early-phase clearing is expected to wrap up by June 19th, at which point the hospital will reassess whether any access points can safely reopen as the project moves forward.
Drivers, patients, visitors, and staff should expect detours, slower traffic, and increased construction activity around the hospital campus throughout the summer. Clearly marked signage will guide vehicles and pedestrians around the work zone, and SAH is urging the community to plan ahead and allow extra travel time when coming to appointments or visiting loved ones.
The project is scheduled to be completed by August 31st and is part of a broader infrastructure effort to increase parking capacity and improve accessibility across the hospital grounds.
